06-06-2011_0741_926.jpgThose who have websites and those who design websites are always looking for a way to increase traffic, and therefore, business. One of the best ways to do this is to identify Keywords that are found on your site and in your content. Another way to do this is to identify words that are associated with your site or product. Hmm... How would one go about doing that? Well, Google Labs just release a tool, called Google Correlate, that allows you to inter a search term and then see a list of words that are often associated with that words in searches and trends.

This tool is amazing and a real step forward in creating SEO geared content and websites.

Here's and example. RynoMedia has just begun work on an international "News" site geared towards college students. In thinking through keywords tags, heading tags and even the wording of certain content we want to make sure we catch as much Search Engine traffic as possible. So we ran the key phrase "World News" through Google Correlate. This is the result:

What this tells us is that,

  1. Our competation for World News is really steep!
  2. People rarely search for "World News" without having a specific news site in mind.

The good news is that helps us know that in order to market our site we need to be creative and target keywords, phrases, and users who aren't looking for a specific news site such as BBC or Reuters. This saves us months of work and data analysis so we can know what most users are looking for when they search for World News.

This is an idea of how you can make Google Correlate work for you - go on and give it a try.
